Much of the image includes blank locations now with little or no radar response. Magnetometry, as discussed above, is a passive strategy measuring local variations in magnetism against a localised zero value. Magnetic susceptibility study is an active method: it is a step of how magnetic a sample of sediment might be in the presence of a magnetic field. Just how much soil is tested depends upon the size of the test coil: it can be really small or it can be reasonably big.

The magnetic vulnerability survey helped, nevertheless, define the main location of profession and midden which surrounded the more open area.
